Resources for new arrivals in Harrogate

This document provides useful information for new arrivals to the Harrogate district. It lists helpful organisations like Citizens Advice Bureau who have information online in different languages, North Yorkshire Welcome Pack which gives information on many aspects of living in North Yorkshire, such as work and education.  There is health and safety information and contact details for North Yorkshire Police.  This list for new arrivals is not exhaustive and is being updated with new information regularly.

This document has now been translated into five other languages. Please select which language you require by clicking on one of the following Czech, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian and Polish.

Sadly the Minority Ethnic Project finished at the end of March 2011, as following the end of the Migration Impacts Funding we have been unable to secure any replacement funding.

  • Health promotion (community health fairs and raising awareness of how to access health services)
  • Running the Harrogate District Minority Ethnic Forum and Ripon BME Forum
  • Promoting volunteering as a way to engage in the community and improve language skills.
  • Working with Harrogate Library to increase their engagement with migrant workers.
  • Supporting self help groups:

- North Yorkshire Chinese Community Group
