St Peters Church
Caretaker
St Peters Church is seeking to appoint a part time caretaker to help take forward the mission of the Church. He or she will be part of our small enthusiastic team which will be responsible for welcoming all who come to church during the week and make use of the premises. The work will involve moving furniture and equipment, cleaning, and preparing meeting rooms. The post will be conditional on a CRB check and a successful six month probation period.
20 hours per week (3 hours per day and two flexi hours). Pay: £9.00 per hour
Job Description:
Being sensitive to all those who come in.
Tidying and cleaning all areas including outside areas.
Cleaning kitchen and toilets / and re-stocking necessary items.
Sorting out storage areas to make best use of space and keeping them tidy.
Helping get furniture / equipment / exhibition stands moved for services and meetings whenever necessary.
Preparing rooms for meetings and events.
Checking maintenance book for any immediate problems to be dealt with.
Telling wardens of anything which needs doing/mending (beyond normal scope).
Maintaining and checking equipment.
“Handiman” skills for small items of work.
Keeping up to date with health and safety training.
Sharing the responsibility of security in the building.
Person Specification
Someone who can catch the vision of helping visitors and members of the congregation to be at home in church.
Someone who is fit enough to move the necessary furniture and equipment and tackle the demands of cleaning
Someone who understands the needs of those who come in to pray and will work sensitively for them.
Someone who shares our "can do" vision of St. Peters and will be a valued team member to make sure things happen.
Someone who can work on their own initiative but is at heart a team member.

Housing Support Worker
Location: Harrogate
Salary: £19,622 - £21,520

The post holder will work as part of the North Yorkshire Making Safe scheme. Making Safe is a multi-agency initiative that provides positive intervention to incidents of domestic abuse. Foundation play a key role in this scheme by working with the perpetrator and helping to ensure the safety of the victim. Emergency accommodation can be used to accommodate the perpetrator, to comply with bail conditions and prevent the victim of the abuse from being forced to leave the family home.
Making Safe Referrals will come from agencies such as the Probation Service, IDAS, the police, Harrogate Borough Council and Social Services.
The post holder will deliver support to the offender in their accommodation or in Foundation’s accommodation, which the post holder will manage. Support will be delivered to enable the customer to sustain their tenancy and to live independently. Multi-agency work is a significant element of the role and the post holder will be expected to work closely with the other agencies who make up the Making Safe service . This is a challenging and exciting role in which training specific to the post will be provided.

Our teams of Housing Support Workers provide housing related support services to a wide range of customer groups. This role will work in partnership with Pathway, York’s leaving care team to engage and support care leavers and other vulnerable young people to access services and social support. You will work with groups and individuals and be creative and develop new projects.

We currently have a vacancy for a Housing Support Worker. This post is a joint post with City of York Council Children Services and the Youth Offending Team.
The post holder will be responsible for carrying out child in need initial assessments with homeless or potentially homeless 16 & 17 year olds, within statutory timescales and providing relevant housing options in relation to a young persons situation. Also where agreed, the post holder will be the Youth Justice specialist liaison between housing and youth justice services, holding or overseeing cases under statutory Youth Justice intervention.
