Cancer Action Partnership

What is the Harrogate Cancer Action Partnership?

Harrogate Cancer Action Partnership meets about five times a year and is made up of a group of patients, carers, family members and workers interested in improving services for all people living with cancer. The group works with Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, NHS North Yorkshire and York (Primary Care Trust) and other statutory and voluntary organisations to work together to ensure that cancer services meet the needs of those who use them.  The group feeds into the Cancer Steering Group, responsible for the planning and development of services. The group members also feed their views into the Yorkshire Cancer Network which aims to improve the patient experience and process of cancer services and to achieve equitable high quality service provision focused on the needs of patients and carers.

2012 meetings of the group are at Community House, Harrogate on the following dates:

Wednesday 8 February, 2pm -4pm
Wednesday 16 May, 2pm -4pm
Wednesday 4 July, 2pm -4pm
Wednesday 12 September, 2pm -4pm
Wednesday 7 November, 2pm -4pm

Cancer Support Contacts Booklet

The Cancer Action Partnership has secured sponsorship for the reprinting of the Cancer Support Contacts in the Harrogate District Booklet. Copies are now available from HACVS at Harrogate Community House. The booklet is also available online here.  Updating and printing of this booklet has been made possible by charitable donations to cancer services at Harrogate District Hospital.

What Does CAP Do?

The group meets five times a year at Community House in Harrogate. Meetings are informal and anyone is welcome to attend.
The group also produces a
newsletter to keep people up to date who cannot attend the meetings.
Any out of pocket expenses such as bus or train fares and car mileage can be reimbursed.

What are the aims of the Partnership?

  • To give a voice to users of cancer services and their carers
  • To encourage real improvements to existing cancer services
  • To help plan and develop new services
  • To enable users of services and healthcare professionals to meet on an equal footing

Why involve patients and carers?

The Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust and NHS North Yorkshire and York (Primary Care Trust) are keen to work with patients and carers to gain a better understanding of what really matters to people who use cancer services.
Working together can make sure that cancer services meet the needs of those who use them.

How can you become involved?
